A Chinese war film called “The Battle at Lake Changjin” about a military victory over American troops during the Korean War, has raked in $633 million and has out performed the new James Bond and Marvel films.

BBC:

The biggest movie in the world right now is not the latest Bond film No Time To Die or even Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

It’s a Chinese propaganda film about the 1950s Korean War, centred on a story of Chinese soldiers defeating American troops despite great odds.

In just two weeks since its release, The Battle at Lake Changjin has made over $633m (£463m) at the box office. This puts it far ahead of Shang-Chi’s global earnings of $402m, and in just half the time.

It is set to become China’s highest-grossing film ever.

Its success is good news for China’s pandemic-affected film sector as Covid forced cinemas to shut and reopen multiple times.

It is even better news for the state, which experts say appears to have nailed a formula of making propaganda appeal to the masses.

But for Hollywood looking in from the outside, the immense popularity of a local film like this could mean even more challenges ahead as it struggles to gain ground in China – the biggest film market in the world.

I find it funny that the BBC refers to this movie as a Chinese propaganda film. Would that mean that all of the Hollywood pro-American war movies were American or more accurately Jewish propaganda films? The answer is yes, but their aim is to present this Chinese film in a negative light by referring to it as propaganda.

Whatever the case, this is an interesting story because it highlights how Hollywood’s cultural influence is in massive decline. It is a shadow of what it once was, mostly because the movies they have put out have gotten increasingly worse over the years. Also because of the virus hoax, few movies are being made and the ones that are being made offer nothing original or interesting.

I just found out today that another Batman movie is coming out which is insane to me. There’s already been like 100 Batman movies that have been put out. Even this random guy on Twitter doesn’t get what’s up with this new Batman film.

Hollywood was never able to make any sort of meaningful entry into China. All the “woke” movies that were effective at brainwashing a segment of White people in the West, never gained any sort of cultural importance in China. The failure of the recent Star Wars films in China is just one example of this.

Knowing how popular this film has been in China, it actually makes me interested in seeing it.

China is poised to be the economic and cultural superpower of the 21st century. The popularity of this new war film is just a sign of what’s to come.
