McDonald’s restaurants were forced to stop serving food because of a global IT outage.

Looks like it specifically hit McDonald’s locations in Australia and United Kingdom particularly hard.

This is yet another incident showing how the combination of relying on increasingly complex systems being run and maintained by increasingly dumber people is a very bad one.

There is also no reason why a restaurant has to stop functioning because of a technology issue. A restaurant could just take cash and process orders by hand. That’s how it was done prior to the Internet existing. Orders don’t have to be punched into computers.

Whatever, McDonald’s food isn’t very good so I guess you could argue that this outage wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Even still, it highlights how systems are becoming increasingly unreliable throughout the West.
