The Florida government decided to do a test of the emergency broadcast system at 4:45 AM sending alerts to everyone’s phones. They said it was meant to only hit TVs.
We know a 4:45 AM wake up call isn't ideal š @FLSERT wants to apologize for the early morning text. Each month, we test #emergencyalerts on a variety of platforms. This alert was supposed to be on TV, and not disturb anyone already sleeping.

Seriously though, what the hell is with this? Why test the system at 4:45 AM?
I’ve never seen this system used for anything substantive. It’s basically devolved into a tool for government people to annoy and troll people with bullshit. A case could be made to eliminate the system entirely.
What is the point of having an emergency broadcast system? To my knowledge it has never been used once in my lifetime. And since any "emergency" that America faces is likely to be committed by govmedia, they'd just use the system to lie about it anyway.
