The European Union is looking to invoke emergency powers to force companies to make products.

This sounds like Soviet-era economic policy. Centralized command and control over economies does not work. There are numerous historical examples of how this always fails. No single person or group of people is smarter than the market. Forcing private companies to do things never ends well.

Regardless of that, I don’t know how they can force companies to do much of anything when the entire bloc is dealing with a self-inflicted energy crisis. They’re not going to have many companies left that make much of anything if this continues.
