The orange man is really grasping at straws with this one. He’s claiming that the coronavirus problems are a Democrat hoax.
President Donald Trump on Friday night tried to cast the global outbreak of the coronavirus as a liberal conspiracy intended to undermine his first term, lumping it alongside impeachment and the Mueller investigation.
He blamed the press for acting hysterically about the virus, which has now spread to China, Japan, South Korea, Iran, Italy and the U.S, and he downplayed its dangers, saying against expert opinion it was on par with the flu.
“The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. They’re politicizing it,” he said. “They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa. No, they can’t. They can’t count their votes. One of my people came up to me and said, ‘Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia.’ That did not work out too well. They could not do it. They tried the impeachment hoax.”
Then Trump called the coronavirus “their new hoax.”
He’s right that the Democrats are politicizing it. But the coronavirus fears are not a hoax.
The stock market would not have crashed the way it did if the fears were unfounded.
He had the power to immediately suspend air travel to impacted areas, seal the borders etc.. but instead gave the green light to evacuate Americans out of quarantined areas and chose not to implement restrictive travel controls. It’s his own fault for not putting proper border controls in place and allowing these insane evacuation missions to take place. He put himself in this position. The Democrats are merely taking advantage of the political gift that he gave them.
Despite all this, I don’t see the Democrats defeating the orange man in November. They have no real plan to deal with this situation, have a weak field of presidential candidates and lost all sorts of political capital with their promotion of the Russia and impeachment hoaxes. So even if millions of people die from the coronavirus, it is doubtful they’ll be able to get the orange man removed from office.
