While the exact number is not known, it appears as if Hamas has managed to capture hundreds of Jewish prisoners. Many of them appear to be Israeli soldiers.

High level officers are reportedly among some of the Israelis who have been captured.

The Jews are trying to push for American involvement in this war by talking about how there are “American” prisoners among the hostages.

If there are “American” hostages, most of them are probably Jews and dual citizens of Israel so they aren’t even really Americans.
The Jews are going to need lots of luck to get their people back. They won’t be able to get them back by dropping bombs on Gaza. They’ll either have to negotiate a prisoner swap or launch a massive ground operation.
