I support the effort, but let’s be honest, this is too little too late. The time for this was back in 2017 when these bans really started getting kicked off.
The Republicans had a window where they could have done something substantive to protect free speech on the Internet. Instead, all they did was explain how they weren’t racist because of Charlottesville. It was actually quite sick to watch it unfold as none of them challenged the media lies of what took place that day.
Myself and many others said that if something wasn’t done to stop this that they would ban everybody including Donald Trump himself. And guess what, that’s exactly what happened.
This censorship has also led to state of affairs where people are believing all sorts of insane stuff. The coronavirus hoax being one of the most prominent and obvious examples. It’s a very frustrating situation to say the least.
