NPR has put out a piece complaining about how Gen Zers are not choosing to do plumbing, building and electrical jobs.

The entire system spent years demonizing people who did work in skilled trades. There was also this narrative put out to young people about how if you didn’t get some bullshit four year liberal arts degree that you’d be worthless or something. Now these same people who constantly demonized the blue collar working class are complaining about how there are fewer of these workers. They are afraid that the lack of these workers is going to result in economic problems.

Let’s be serious here. What did you expect was going to happen when you discouraged generations of men from taking blue collar jobs? Did you think this was going to be a good thing? Electricity, plumbing and other types of construction work are necessities for a modern society to function.

It is also worth noting that a larger percentage of young people in America are not WHITE. So you can fully expect the quality of the trades work to go down rapidly. It’s going to be a total shit show for a long time.

This article also strikes me as a way to shame a younger generation who were totally sold out by their older counterparts.

I guess the good news is that if you are a young WHITE male and interested in trade work, you’ll be able to do pretty well for yourself. Of course, there are millions of young people who don’t want to work at all because the difficult prospects of forming a family etc.. and I can’t blame them one bit. Why work your ass off to help a system that hates you?
