The same technology companies that blacklisted and censored untold numbers of people are now vowing to stop AI-generated content from disrupting elections.

RT:

Twenty major technology companies have vowed to stop misleading AI-generated content from disrupting elections around the globe, with the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and Google saying they would work to detect and counter deepfakes.

In a press release published on Friday, Microsoft unveiled the new initiative, stating that 20 Big Tech firms would “help prevent deceptive AI content from interfering with this year’s global elections,” which will involve around 4 billion people across 40 nations.

“The ‘Tech Accord to Combat Deceptive Use of AI in 2024 Elections’ is a set of commitments to deploy technology countering harmful AI-generated content meant to deceive voters,” the company said, adding that the “Signatories pledge to work collaboratively on tools to detect and address online distribution of such AI content, drive educational campaigns, and provide transparency, among other concrete steps.”

Why?

Democracy assumes that every person is equally capable of processing information and casting a vote to determine who runs governments. To say that you have to shield people from certain content and material is effectively an admission that democracy does not work.

You can’t say that you are protecting democracy while advocating for content censorship and manipulation. It is “double speak” in the classic sense of the term.

I’m fully in favor of abolishing democracy and especially universal suffrage democracy because it is a system that allows media people to control the ultimate outcome of elections. Women have also proven themselves to be utterly retarded with how they vote and are easily swayed by stupid propaganda. The general state of the Western world has shown that democracy leads countries toward destruction.

Overall though, it is insanely dumb for these people claiming they are protecting democracy by prohibiting people’s access to certain content be it AI-generated or not. Anybody who is truly in favor of democracy should at least in theory be huge supporters of free speech and access to information.
