From me: We could have a nationwide Class I railroad strike (or lockout) if Biden doesn't act by the end of this weekend.
The unrest comes as railroads earn record profits while squeezing capacity, dropping nearly 1/3 of its workforce in 6 years.https://t.co/bMq3tlXlsO— David Dayen (@ddayen) July 14, 2022
More than 20,000 U.S railroad workers could go on strike next Monday, after 99.5% voted to back a strike
Biden faces a deadline to intervene–a move that might anger the workers. He can appoint an emergency labor board to recommend terms of a settlement https://t.co/0M8LjDKnIj

BREAKING: 99.5% of railroad workers with BLET voted to authorize a strike today.
"Carriers adopted slash and burn operating plans with only one goal in mind; profits without regard to the…well-being of their employees," said BLET's president. https://t.co/54OUJQHPCR

If this happens, the supply chain would be further crippled.
We already have issues in the trucking sector because of high diesel prices and other things. If the entire railroad industry comes to a halt because of a worker strike for any lengthy period of time, you are going to start seeing even worse shortages of all sorts of things.
