The results of the European elections are finally in and the results showed gains for right-wing and populist parties as well as gains for leftist Communist parties. The centrist parties lost ground revealing an increased amount of political polarization throughout the continent.

Right-wing and populist parties did best in the United Kingdom, France and Italy. Nigel Farage, Marine Le Pen and Matteo Salvini all saw their parties came out on top in their respective countries.

I was honestly hoping for a better result, but it is still a step in the right direction. The increased presence of these moderate right-wing parties in the European Parliament will certainly create some problems for the establishment. This increased political polarization is a good thing and we want to encourage it.
