The sanctions on Russia have objectively made Russia’s economy stronger while making the European Union’s overall economies weaker. So what does the EU do? They quadruple down on this failed strategy by extending these ridiculous sanctions for another year.

RT:

The EU has extended sanctions imposed against Russia in connection with the conflict in Ukraine for another year, according to a European Council decision published on its website on Monday.

The restrictions will be up for renewal again in February 2025.

“As long as the Russian Federation’s illegal actions continue to violate the prohibition on the use of force, which is a serious breach of international law, it is appropriate to maintain in force all the measures currently imposed by the Union and to take additional measures, if necessary,” the document reads.

Brussels has placed 12 rounds of restrictions on Russia since the start of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022 and is currently finalizing another package. The existing restrictions already target a broad range of sectors and include trade embargoes, travel bans and individual sanctions against Russian businessmen and public officials.

They actually had the nerve to cite “international law” as the reason for extending the sanctions which is a joke. It has become clear that “international law” is selectively enforced and effectively has no meaning.

Take in point how these people aren’t rushing to slap sanctions on Israel for major obvious violations of “international law.” It doesn’t matter that what the Jews are doing is thousands of times worse than anything Russia has ever done. Russia is acting in defense of their country due to a war that was forced on them. Israel is an occupying power engaging in a policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide. Yet they put sanctions on Russia and do little to nothing against Israel.

Regardless of that, these policies are a failure and the fact that they refuse to reverse course on these failed policies just shows how ridiculous and stupid the EU has become.
