A cyberattack has resulted in the MGM hotels on the Las Vegas Strip being unable to function.

Daily Mail:

Thousands of guests at MGM Resorts in the Las Vegas strip have been locked out of their hotel rooms after the company was hit with a cyber attack, according to reports.

MGM Resorts International has about 48,000 rooms on The Strip. The company’s properties include Mandalay Bay, the Bellagio, Luxor and MGM Grand, among others.

The outage, first detected on Sunday night, has affected company emails, reservations, room keys and casino slot machines.

Sounds like quite the disaster. People getting locked out of rooms, the slot machines not working, email not working etc.. Must really suck for all those braindead boomers who were there to gamble away their children’s inheritance.

With that said, I’ve maintained for a long time now that things are going to become increasingly dysfunctional. You have all of these complicated systems that run all sorts of things and increasingly more incompetent people managing and maintaining them. What you are seeing here is just another example of that.

What is funny is how so many of these systems including the slot machines rely on the Internet and/or computers to operate. MGM wouldn’t have had half the problems they have now if they weren’t relying on technology to run all these things. Of course, if you try to tell this to the boomer-aged dickhead people in upper management positions, they look at you like you got a black dick growing out of your forehead. You just can’t convince these people of anything so they’ll just have to find out the hard way.
