Apple is suddenly looking at relocating more of their hardware production outside of China. Most of their iPhones are currently produced in China. Estimates are that 95 percent of all iPhones are made in China with 80 percent of them in Zhengzhou otherwise known as iPhone City.
Apple has told its manufacturing partners that it wants them to start trying to do more of this work outside of China, according to people involved in the discussions published in WSJ.

We’ve been warning for many years about both the need and the difficulty of reducing Apple’s dependence on China, but the pandemic made even clearer the risks of the company having most of its manufacturing eggs in one basket.
While Apple has been expanding production into other countries, recent estimates suggest that 95% of the total iPhone supply still comes from China – and around 80% of all iPhones are made in a single plant in Zhengzhou, aka iPhone City.
Massive disruption at this plant has led to iPhone production being reduced to as little as 20% of planned output. One estimate suggested that lost output amounts to more than 20M units. Worst hit has been the iPhone 14 Pro, where the gap between supply and demand is so great that became impossible to guarantee delivery in time for Christmas even for orders placed in mid-November. This is estimated to have cost Apple $1B per week in lost iPhone revenue.
They had a major shit show occur in China with the government’s zero COVID policies impacting their ability to produce product. They also have been helping the government crackdown on protests against their zero COVID policies going so far as to disable the Airdrop feature on iPhones in China.

I doubt they’ll bring much of that manufacturing back to America even though they are a company that was founded in America. They’ll just find another country where they can use cheap if not slave labor to produce their products. Most likely they’ll diversify manufacturing in India or some other Asian country in the general region.
Apple has gone totally downhill after Steve Jobs died. The iPhone literally has not improved in years and I don’t believe Tim Cook’s claim about not planning to ban Twitter from their app store. He was a dumbass for making most iPhones in China any way. Why would you put all your eggs in one basket like this?
I hope Elon makes his own phone and puts some competitive pressure on Apple. I’m just sick of how the company operates and I’m sick of that gay fag Cook who hasn’t innovated anything. The fact that he makes huge amount of product in China is not a good thing for America.
