Technology and automobile companies have wasted $100 billion on self-driving cars.

Despite being in development for many years, the technology does not appear anywhere close to widespread adoption. The idea of self-driving cars always sounded like a weird gimmick and it looks like that has proven to be the case.

It’s kind of like solar panels. They might be fine to use in specific and/or limited situations, but you’d be insane to rely on them exclusively for all of your energy. The same can be said for self-driving automobiles. These companies were selling this idea that these things would be everywhere and would eventually revolutionize the trucking industry.

Probably a big part of the reason why this technology has gone nowhere is because these corporations are hiring less and less qualified engineers due to diversity and affirmative action mandates.

Either way, it is a big mess and lots of money has been wasted on trying and failing to develop this into a usable technology.

Hell, the technology didn’t even work right in Total Recall.
