A mass shooting took place in Prague today at Charles University which is located in the middle of the city. It looks as if the shooter was armed with a long rifle and got up to an elevated position where he just started firing at random people. The shooter is believed to have killed himself after killing and wounding dozens of people.

I don’t really have a whole lot to add beyond what’s being said on social media. Details are not known yet but it doesn’t look as if the shooter was a Moslem. There are so few Moslems in the Czech Republic or Czechia as they now call it that it actually would have been somewhat surprising if the shooter were a Moslem. There’s also no evidence that this was politically motivated. At least there isn’t yet. That might change though. We’ll just have to see what comes out.
Prague is also a relatively peaceful city so this type of thing happening there is highly unusual. This could have just been a case of someone going nuts which happens regularly in America but less so in eastern Europe.
