Elon Musk has declined a seat on Twitter’s board of directors after he bought around 10 percent of the company’s stock.

It is possible that Musk was offered the board seat only so he wouldn’t attempt a hostile takeover of the company. The condition of accepting the seat was that he couldn’t buy any more than around 14 to 15 percent of the company’s stock. So him turning down the board seat opens up the possibility that he could buy more stock and later take over the company.

I would definitely like Musk to attempt a hostile takeover of the company just because it would rattle some cages. The company also couldn’t be managed any worse than it is right now. But even still, I am not optimistic that he’s going to be able to make any substantive changes if he attempts this. There are major forces who need mass censorship in place on Twitter to control their false narratives. They simply can’t afford to have free speech on any of the major social media sites.

Plus, Musk is a weird guy. He deliberately sunk Bitcoin by trash talking it and thinks brain chips are a great idea. He also has this weird obsession with colonizing Mars. So I’m not totally sold on this idea that he’d restore free speech. I’ll start paying more attention if people like Donald Trump and Alex Jones are allowed back on the site.
