The BBC is upset that Twitter has labeled them “government funded media.”

They can object all they want but the BBC operates off of public funds. This is just a fact.
Why @BBC objecting govt funded tag? They want to hide the truth that Licence Fee collected forcefully from every TV user in Britain is not imposed by govt under Digital Economy Act? pic.twitter.com/YVI0Gg92Di

Elon Musk provided this response to the BBC.
What does BBC stand for again? I keep forgetting.

The BBC is upset because this exposes them as being state run propaganda. It is a label that they have regularly used to describe the media operations of other countries as a backhanded way to discredit them.
There is no reason why the BBC or other Western media operations like NPR, VOA, PBS etc.. shouldn’t get the same treatment as a Chinese, Indian or Russian news operation.
