Positioning more military assets in the region just makes the chances of this spiraling into a larger regional war more likely. It also increases the chances of a Jewish false flag attack to drag full American military involvement into the war. Israel has a history of attempting this sort of thing like what we saw with the USS Liberty in the 1960s. You also have the 9/11 attacks.
Most likely Israel will send ground forces into Gaza which will prompt Hezbollah to act and then there’s no telling where things will go from there. You could see Syria and Iran mobilize their forces which will turn it into a multifront war.
Avoiding a third world war is going to be very difficult at this point.
