So the orange man signed an executive order to regulate social media companies this afternoon. The order appears to be focused around curtailing legal protections these companies have by their false claim that they operate as a neutral platform. We obviously know that they do not operate as a neutral platform, they instead operate as a publisher. Twitter’s retarded fact-checking of Trump’s mail-in ballot tweet was just more proof of this.

While it is absolutely a welcome first step, I’m not sure if it will be enough to allow all of us to get back on these sites. Tucker Carlson was saying on his show tonight that the order doesn’t go far enough and I tend to agree with that.

This is something that should have been done back in 2017 when the first major bans started happening.

I would have also much rather seen these companies regulated as public utilities. But we’ll see what happens with this.

Maybe I’ll try signing up for a Twitter account again just to see if they’ve put a leash on the thought police. But my gut tells me that little if anything has changed.
