The Turks have suspended contact with Israel’s top leadership over the Gaza genocide situation. Erdogan said that he views Bibi as someone who he can no longer talk to and further added that he’s given up trying to reason with him.

RT:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has cut off contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza, he told reporters on a flight home from a summit in Kazakhstan on Saturday.

Netanyahu is no longer someone we can talk to. We have given up on him,” Erdogan said, according to Turkish media.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry also announced on Saturday that it had recalled its ambassador to Israel, Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, “in view of the unfolding humanitarian tragedy in Gaza caused by the continuing attacks by Israel against civilians and Israel’s refusal of calls for a ceasefire and the continuous and unhindered flow of humanitarian aid.

What Turkey does moving forward will be of great geopolitical significance. They have a sizable army and are a significant regional power. Erdogan has been playing both sides for a very long time and it is probably a safe assumption to believe that this can’t be sustained. His entire population wants something done about Israel.

He’s still sitting the fence though. He’s not totally suspending diplomatic ties with Israel and he still hasn’t done anything substantive to block them from resources. Meanwhile, Turkey is still a NATO member and hosts several bases with American military personnel.

There’s no telling how all this is going to play out but things globally are definitely shifting against Israel.
