I remember saying years ago how it was dumb that in the United States, decisions were made to put all sorts of critical infrastructure on the Internet. Well, a cyberattack has now caused the biggest gas pipeline in the country to halt their operations.

Reportedly it was a ransomware attack although this story is being reported by the Jeff Bezos owned Washington Post which is not the most reputable of Internet blogs.

Either way, their operations have been suspended and that is not a good thing considering that this pipeline supplies almost half the east coast with gas.

There were already reports of gas shortages in parts of the country. This is not going to help that situation. This event will also cause gas prices which were already high to go up even higher.

Things are falling apart and I wouldn’t expect things to get better.
