The feds are claiming that they recovered a stash of Bitcoin from the hackers who allegedly extorted Colonial Pipeline with a ransomware attack.
BREAKING: A law enforcement official says U.S. officials have seized millions of dollars in cryptocurrency paid as ransom after the Colonial Pipeline hack. The cyberattack had caused the nation’s largest fuel pipeline to halt its operations last month. https://t.co/9NTtIr41Q2

The news resulted in Bitcoin crashing in value.

This entire narrative sounds like total and complete bullshit. The feds are literally claiming that they were somehow able to get the bitcoin password from the hacker people which makes no sense.
This guy on Twitter is just as skeptical as I am.
just to get everything straight:
>colonial pipeline "hacked"
>wow oil price go up
>wow we need renewables
>ransom paid
>pipeline opened
>entire bitcoin ransom recovered
>bitcoin was on a "bitcoin server" (lmfao) in South Carolina

Presumably they are going to use this event to attack cryptocurrencies and claim they are bad because criminals use it.
Personally I think this whole event was staged and appears to be an intelligence operation of some kind. The whole “DarkSide” group that was said to be responsible for this hack was seemingly created out of the ether and were conveniently Russian in origin. None of this passes the smell test.
Expect to see false flag cyberattacks much like we’ve seen false flag terrorism in the decades prior. The CIA has the ability to do these things according the Vault 7 leaks so this type of scenario is very plausible.
I just don’t see how anybody can take this ridiculous narrative from the feds at face value.
