The European Union just extended their digital COVID pass system for another year despite widespread popular opposition.

This was never meant to be a temporary measure. The idea around this has always been to control people’s behavior by restricting their travel based around their vaccination status, energy usage etc.. They used the fake pandemic to get this in place and they have no intention of getting rid of it. Once governments seize powers, they rarely if ever give them up unless there’s a revolution or collapse of some kind.

The EU itself is in a precarious position though. With many European economies getting wrecked because of their ill-advised sanctions on Russia, it is hard to see how they will be able to maintain such a bizarre control system for any significant length of time.
