California businesses have been forced to slash around 10,000 jobs due to the imposition of a $20 minimum wage for fast food workers.
California businesses have purportedly cut roughly 10,000 jobs since Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 1228, which increased the state’s minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 per hour.https://t.co/DbElaLp5sV

This was to be expected.
They put businesses in a position where they could no longer afford labor so they had to eliminate jobs to stay afloat. They are also passing along some of the additional labor costs on to customers resulting in higher food prices.
This type of thing is also only going to drive the fast food industry into adopting automation and other technologies to replace workers.
This was a very dumb policy but since Gavin Newsom is hellbent on implementing policies designed to make everyone’s lives as shitty and miserable as possible it is not surprising that he did this.
