Donald Trump and the Republican Party in general have decided to use the threat of a Democrat Party socialist takeover to convince people to vote for them in the 2020 election. This is dumb and it isn’t working.

AP:

In this scruffy, high-desert town encircled by prairies and potato farms, Sen. Cory Gardner drew shouts of approval last week for his message that Democrats are shoving the country toward socialism.

“That’s not what government is or what it should be,” he told about 200 Alamosa County Republicans at a barbecue fundraiser in a National Guard armory. “We have to stand up and fight. Are you going to join me in this fight?”

For Gardner and other Republicans making the same pitch , including President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the key question is whether it will attract moderate voters, not just their conservative stalwarts. Based on interviews with over three dozen Coloradans last week from Denver’s suburbs south to this town in the flat San Luis Valley, the argument has yet to take root, though the GOP has 18 months to sell it before Election Day 2020.

It is legitimately horrible messaging. The reason why Trump won the Republican nomination and the presidency is because he had the toughest rhetoric on immigration. That’s the number one issue people want solved. The country is being invaded and there is no attempt to solve the problem.

Nobody is going to give a fuck about a so-called socialist takeover when the country is under siege and being transformed by endless numbers of goblin hordes. And what does this so-called socialist takeover even mean? Nobody seems to know. It’s nothing but nonsense.

Maybe they think it is best go go in this direction because it will make people forget about Trump’s failure to secure the border and to build the wall. But even still, it is dumb messaging.

It seems like the Republicans and the Democrats are both doing everything they possibly can to lose in 2020. There’s all sorts of stupid going on everywhere.
