Donald Trump put out a few tweets today that echo my own thoughts on trade with Canada. Now that Trump has hammered out an agreement with Mexico, there is no necessity for a deal to be struck with Canada.
There is no political necessity to keep Canada in the new NAFTA deal. If we don’t make a fair deal for the U.S. after decades of abuse, Canada will be out. Congress should not interfere w/ these negotiations or I will simply terminate NAFTA entirely & we will be far better off…

….Remember, NAFTA was one of the WORST Trade Deals ever made. The U.S. lost thousands of businesses and millions of jobs. We were far better off before NAFTA – should never have been signed. Even the Vat Tax was not accounted for. We make new deal or go back to pre-NAFTA!

Canada basically has to agree to a deal that is on Trump’s terms. They have no other choice in the matter. It doesn’t matter that Trump’s “off the record” comments got leaked in which he talked about forcing them to accept a deal on his terms. It’s actually quite possible that Trump wanted those comments to be leaked because it puts more pressure on Canada and it gives him more ammunition to bash the dishonest news media.
Plus, does anybody actually think Canada’s soyboy leader Justin Trudeau can change this situation? And who the hell is this woman Chrystia Freeland? It makes me laugh that she is running Canada’s foreign relations. She couldn’t negotiate herself out of a wet paper bag. All this shows is that Canada has become a joke country with joke leaders.
They’re either going to take a deal on Trump’s terms or they’ll have no trade deal at all. Let them try and explain that to the Canadian people!
