Anthony Fauci the top US disease official was on national television today calling for a 14-day national shutdown.

Washington Times:

Dr. Antony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, urged Americans to shut down more aggressively as the coronavirus spreads.

On MSNBC’s “Meet the Press” Mr. Fauci endorsed a 14-day “national shutdown” to help slow down the virus. He explained that he has brought it up with the administration, which is generally open to his ideas.

“I think Americans should be prepared that they are going to have to hunker down significantly more than we as a country are doing,” he said.

This may actually happen. Several European countries have already taken similar measures.

But we are probably at the point where it won’t prevent America’s hospital system from being overwhelmed with the infected. It is not unreasonable to believe that millions of Americans already have this. The amount of people confirmed to have been infected are only those who have been tested and as we already know, the coronavirus test has not been widely available or accessible.
