The Syrian army has finished wiping out the last ISIS holdout in the Damascus area. This means that Bashar Al-Assad has full control of the city and the surrounding area.

AP:

Syria’s military says it has retaken the last neighborhoods in southern Damascus held by the Islamic State group and is declaring the capital and its surroundings “completely safe” and free of any militant presence.

In an army statement broadcast on Syrian TV Monday, Gen. Ali Mayhoub says the army captured the former IS strongholds in the Palestinian Yarmouk camp and Hajar al-Aswad after a monthlong campaign.

The Israelis can’t be happy with this outcome. We’ll probably see the Jews launch additional military strikes against Syria in the not to distant future. Although, they’ll probably be more reluctant to do so considering that the Russians appear committed to stepping up Syrian air defense capabilities.
