Illegal aliens are so important to Democrat politicians that they were willing to boycott President Trump’s infrastructure meeting.
President Trump delivered a stern message on sanctuary cities to the nation’s mayors Wednesday, saying that cities that don’t cooperate with federal immigration officials “are the best friends of gangs and cartels.”
Trump’s remarks came in a less-than-full East Room of the White House, where he spoke to mayors about the economy, infrastructure and the opioid crisis.
But a handful of the 109 invited mayors boycotted the event, protesting the Justice Department’s threat hours earlier to subpoena 23 cities it accuses of harboring undocumented immigrants accused of crimes.
“The mayors who choose to boycott this event have put the needs of criminal, illegal immigrants over law-abiding Americans,” Trump said. “But let me tell you, the vast majority of people showed up.”
The Justice Department’s latest escalation of the immigration debate came as the Trump administration is trying to court state and local officials of both parties in order to sell a bipartisan infrastructure bill that Trump hopes will be a signature achievement of his second year in office.
Presumably as a city mayor, one would want to be part of a meeting that could potentially result in big infrastructure projects. City infrastructure projects mean jobs and improvements in the city itself.
But no, ensuring a bunch of illegal aliens don’t get deported is of higher priority to these clowns.
These people are brain damaged. Things that are basic common sense escape these morons. They’ll now be less likely to get huge projects approved for their cities.
The feds need to sweep into these cities and start rounding these illegal aliens. The mayors themselves should be arrested for aiding and abetting human trafficking!
