David Morrell the guy who created Rambo just said that the new movie Rambo: Last Blood dehumanized him.

People:

Sylvester Stallone‘s Rambo: Last Blood doesn’t seem to have a fan in series creator David Morrell.

Morrell, 76, wrote his debut 1972 novel First Blood which spawned Stallone’s Rambo franchise. The author shared his thoughts on Last Blood on Twitter Friday, saying he wasn’t happy with the adaptation.

“I agree with these RAMBO: LAST BLOOD reviews,” Morrell tweeted. “The film is a mess. Embarrassed to have my name associated with it.”

In a follow-up interview with Newsweek, Morrell said, “I felt degraded and dehumanized after I left the theater.”

Supposedly John Rambo slaughters a bunch of Mexicans in the movie which probably explains why Morrell is virtue signaling like this.

But the fact that Morrell felt degraded and dehumanized after watching it, actually has made me want to watch the film. Who knows, maybe the film isn’t that good, but his reaction to it has made this movie the first one in many years that I have some type of interest in watching.

There also appears to be quite the disparity between how critics and the audience felt about the film on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics hated it but the audience loved it.
