So it looks like the government is going to be partially shut down over border wall funding.

Here’s where we currently stand.

The House passed a funding bill that includes over $5 billion in border wall funding.

This has put the ball back in the Senate’s court. President Trump has vowed to shutdown the government if Congress doesn’t give him a funding bill with money for his wall.

Unfortunately, the Senate has some really dumb rules that require the bill to get 60 votes for passage. This means the Democrats can shoot down the funding bill.

Trump has called for Mitch McConnell to use the nuclear option and pass the bill with 51 Republican votes.

It’s unlikely that this will happen. There’s a handful of Republican senators obsessed with principles and other bullshit. And because of this, they won’t go through with the vote.

This is of course insane because if the Democrats ever get the chamber, they will use the nuclear option to push through any agendas that they have.

So right now we are waiting for the vote in the Senate. The bill passed some procedural hurdles and we will see the final vote take place in the next few hours.

There are some last minute negotiations taking place, but it is doubtful that we will see a breakthrough. The most likely outcome is that the government will partially shutdown.

POTUS has also been tweeting about beautiful steel slats.

Quite frankly, I don’t care if the government is shutdown for years over this. The only consequence is that some lazy ass government employees who do nothing but jerk themselves off for a living will not get paid. And I can’t imagine that anybody gives a flying fuck about that.

President Trump has made the right move here. He just needs to stay the course. If the Democrats refuse to support a funding bill over a few billion dollars for border security it shows that they are not interested in the nation’s security.
