They’re just not giving it a rest with this Nancy Pelosi drunk parody video. It wasn’t enough to just ban it off of the Internet. They’ve actually gone out of their way to dox the person who is said to have made the video and this was done with Facebook’s help.
The Daily Beast recently doxed a black forklift driver and reported Trump supporter for the alleged high crime of creating a parody video of Democrat speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi. But there’s more to the story — it appears Facebook may have helped the left-wing journalists identify him.
The Daily Beast identified the video creator as Shawn Brooks, whom they described as a forklift driver and Trump supporter from the Bronx.
A Twitter account claiming to be Brooks disputed key details of the story, claiming he is not a Trump supporter, did not create the parody video, and does not live in the Bronx.
By doxing Brooks, The Daily Beast followed the example of CNN, which threatened to unmask an anonymous Trump supporter over a parody video, forcing to him apologize in exchange for not revealing his identity. The scandal caused “CNNBlackmail” to trend on Twitter.
But there’s another aspect to the Daily Beast story which has major implications for the privacy of Facebook users — according to the Daily Beast reporter himself, Facebook gave him information on Brooks’ activity on the platform.
They’re trying to send the message that if you make fun of Democrat politicians on the Internet, that you could be doxed and have your life ruined. And the same people who are promoting this as a good thing are the same people who post the most lies and fake news on the Internet. Yet they claim that this video had to be banned and the person who made it punished because it is allegedly fake news. Their position is transparently comical and hypocritical.
This is all about terrorizing people into submission. They don’t want you speaking your mind. And let’s face facts, if you can’t even post a parody video on the Internet making fun of a politician without fear of retribution, how can anybody say that we have free speech in this country?
Facebook being complicit in the dox further reveals how fucked up everything is. Just because private companies are the ones involved in restricting free political speech doesn’t make it any less of a problem than if the government was doing it.
