Late last year, everyone was going nuts about the Federal Communications Commission repealing net neutrality. People were literally claiming that the repeal marked an end of the tubes. Some went so far as to send death threats to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai who was the main proponent of the repeal. One of these insane people has just been arrested for threatening to kill Pai’s family.

Politico:

A California man is charged with threatening to kill FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s children because he was “angry” about the repeal of net neutrality regulations, the Justice Department said today.

Markara Man, 33, of Norwalk was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with threatening to murder an immediate family member of a U.S. official.

Prosecutors say Man sent three emails to Pai in December 2017, the month the Republican-led FCC voted to repeal the Obama-era net neutrality rules.

One of the emails, sent Dec. 20, to Pai’s government and personal accounts had the subject line “Cheers.” The body of the email listed the names and addresses of three preschools in and around Arlington, Va., where Pai lives, followed by, “I will find your children and I will kill them,” according to the affidavit against Man.

It’s about time that someone is held accountable for making threats against people in the Trump administration. Only a weirdo bugman terrorist would threaten someone’s family because they disagree with how Internet Service Providers should be treated by the government. But all these apocalyptic scenarios we heard about were insane exaggerations.

It’s been several months since net neutrality has been repealed and has anybody noticed any difference with the tubes? There’s literally been no substantive difference to the overall functioning of the Internet.

All we heard from Silicon Valley and tech pundits is that this would result in service providers throttling bandwidth to censor content. This was always a laughable claim considering that the most blatant censorship is done by Silicon Valley itself. Social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and others have banned an endless number of people from their platform for having views that they and the Jewish terrorists at the Anti-Defamation League disapprove of.

Silicon Valley just didn’t want to be forced to pay service providers more money. That’s why they were in favor of net neutrality. They obviously don’t give a flying fuck about censorship because they do it regularly themselves. This was just an excuse to try and convince people that we should keep net neutrality regulations.

But the fact that someone got so worked up to issue death threats to Pai’s family over net neutrality is quite disturbing. What the fuck is wrong with people?
