Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, two boomer-aged celebrities have been caught in a major college bribery scheme.  They apparently paid bribes in order to get their children into prestigious schools.

TV Line:

Desperate Housewives vet Felicity Huffman and Fuller House‘s Lori Loughlin have been indicted for allegedly taking part in a nationwide scheme involving parents who paid hefty bribes to get their kids into elite colleges, including Stanford and Yale, TVLine has confirmed. Prosecutors confirmed on Tuesday that Huffman was arrested without incident, and authorities are seeking to arrange Loughlin’s surrender, per our sister site Variety. Loughlin’s husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, has also been charged.

The indictment — filed by the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts and obtained by TVLine — alleges that Huffman, Loughlin, Giuannulli and 29 other people were involved in the scheme, which bribed college entrance-exam administrators to allow cheating on the tests and university athletic coaches to designate school applicants as athletic recruits, regardless of athletic ability or experience playing a sport. The money for the payments allegedly was funneled through a charity to disguise the wrongdoing.

Per the indictment, Huffman and husband William H. Macy (who is not referenced by name) paid $15,000 to have someone take the SAT in place of their older daughter, which ultimately resulted in a 1420 SAT score for her. They also allegedly pursued doing the same for their younger daughter, but eventually decided against repeating their involvement in the scheme.

Loughlin and Giannulli allegedly paid a total of $500,000 so that their two daughters would be designated as recruits to the USC crew team. Neither girl participated in the sport. Athletic recruits have a much better chance of admission than students who are not recruited.

This is just so dumb on a number of levels. Boomers as a whole have totally overvalued the worth of a college education. Maybe back in the 1950s and 1960s a college degree could be considered of some value. These days, not so much. Anybody willing to invest the time and money can get some type of four year college degree. And most degrees offered are based on bullshit subjects that won’t help you obtain any sort of decent job after you graduate. Just think of how many college graduates you see with degrees in things like Art History making coffee at Starbucks.

Unfortunately, boomer-aged parents demanded their children get a college degree even at a time when college degrees are far less valuable than ever before. They’re also more expensive to obtain than ever before. It’s certainly far more expensive than when boomers went through the system. And on top of that, boomers convinced their kids to take out all sorts of student loans to get these largely worthless pieces of paper.

The fact that these celebrities would go so far as to try and bribe people to get their children into prestigious schools is proof of this deranged thought process among the boomers. They view a college education as the ultimate arbiter of if their child will be a success or not. It’s not true, but that’s how most of them view things.

Even crazier is that Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade is some type of Instagram e-thot who doesn’t appear interested in school.

She was even paid by Amazon to shill their services for them on her Instagram account.

This whole situation is absurd. College is a totally overrated thing. Especially considering that much of what you can learn in college, you can learn for free on the Internet. The entire idea of college as it exists today needs to be totally rethought. It’s a product of an era that no longer exists. The primary function of it today is not to educate but to saddle students with debt they can’t repay and to brainwash them into believing Jewish Marxist doctrines.
